Mięguszowiecki Ridge
Mięguszowiecki Ridge is definitely one of the most challenging ridges in my offer.
Location
It is situated high above Morskie Oko valley and it takes us through the highest and most challenging peaks of the Polish Tatra Mountains. An approach to the climb leads through one of the hardest signed paths in the Tatras and usually takes about 3 hours from the Morskie Oko shelter.
The climb
Once the col Mięguszowiecka Przełęcz pod Chłopkiem is reached, we start climbing the arete of Mięguszowiecki. At the beginning, the route is pretty easy and obvious, but shortly, huge exposure and lots of granit gendarmes, makes it hard to find the easiest pass. Once Mięguszowiecki Szczyt Pośredni (2393 m) is reached, the arete starts to go down, towards the tiny saddle of Wyżnia Mięguszowiecka Przęłęcz. From that point the hardest part of the climb starts. Two rope lengths in the chimney (grade IV UIAA) lead towards an easier ground on Mięguszowiecki Szczyt east ridge.
Once the top of Mięguszowiecki Szczyt is climbed, we start to descent via west ridge. Some down climbing in a big exposure and a few abseils will take us to Hińczowa col. From that point an easier scrambling takes us to big traverse of Cybryna galleries. Once this last obstacle is behind, we reach an easy climbers path towards Dolinka za Mnichem (valley), where the signed path goes towards Morskie Oko.
When?
This climb can only be done in a long summer day and is offered to hikers with some climbing experience and a very good fitnes level.
Rope techniques used by qualified guides on this type of outings guarantee maximum safety and give you strong confidence. Guide will always climb first to make sure you are on the top rope all the time. When down climbing, guide will go last and above you for the same safety reason.
Equipment
All necessary climbing gear (helmets, harnesses, rope, etc. and in winter: avalanche ABC, ice axes and crampons) are provided without any additional cost.
