Cubryna

Location

Cubryna, which is 2376 m. above the sea level, is situated on the main ridge of the Tatra Mountains. It is neighbouring Mięguszowiecki peak, from which is isolated by high Hińczowa Col.

Despite that Cubryna is known as Mięguszowiecki peak „little sister”, the view from its top is also phenomenal and breathtaking, covering most of the peaky High Tatras range. It is also worth pointing that all water runoff from its south slopes ends up in Black Sea, and water runoff from the north slopes of Cubryna goes to Baltic Sea. This part of the Tatras main ridge, cumulating on Cubryna peak, creates one of the main European watersheds.

Climbing and timing

I usually guide to Cubryna peak on two popular routes.

The first of them starts in the same place as a the main route up Mięguszowiecki Peak, but on the high of Hińczowa Col it goes right towards east arete of Cubryna.

The second option starts right below famous Mnich (Monk) and goes up diagonal ledge known as Abgarowicz. After 300 meters of an easy climbing it turns rapidly towards exposed west ridge of Cubryna, which leads straight to the top.

Climbing difficulties are never above II UIAA grade, but complicated topography of this mountain requires good knowledge of terrain, especially when the weather turns bad.

This outing is definitely aimed to the clients with a great fitness level and with some previous experience in moving confidently in that kind of terrain. It usually last 8-10 hours.

Safety and equipment

I assure rope protection all the way up and down the mountain. All necessary climbing gear ( helmets, harnesses, rope, etc.) and in winter (avalanche ABC, ice axes and crampons) are provided by myself without any additional cost.

This offer is for two guests maximum. Price depends on the time of the year and the number of people. Please apply for more info.
