Location

Zadni Mnich 2172m. has a very characteristic shape and is one of my favourite peaks to guide. 

It is situated on the main ridge of the Tatras between Cubryna and Ciemnosmreczyńska Turnia.

There are no signed paths around therefore you can climb it only with a use of ropes. 

The route I guide to Zadni Mnich goes from Ciemnosmreczyńka Col through the west arete. 

Climbing and timing

The difficulties never exceed grade II UIAA and it’s climbable for everyone with moderate/good fitnes level. From the top of it you can look into the hidden Ciemnosmreczyńska valley - rarely visited by tourists. However it is not the end of an adrenalin rush yet. Now we have to get down, which is fortunately far easier then climbing it up. I will lower you down 45 meters to the col on another side of the mountain.

From here we join the climbers path, which leads us through an easy ground.

This outing usually last for 6-8 hours

Safety

Do not be affraid. The rope techniques used by the qualified guides, on this type of outings, guarantee maximum safety and give you strong confidence. Guide will always climb first to make sure you are on the top rope all the time. When down climbing, guide will go last and above you for the same safety reason. 

Equipment

All necessary climbing gear (helmets, harnesses, rope, etc. and in winter avalanche ABC, ice axes and crampons) is provided without any additional cost.
